Information about the 2009
"Pink Ribbon Turtles" ProjectTurtles of Hope: "Pink Ribbon Turtles" 2009Text Box: The “Pink Ribbon Turtles” Drawing is in its fifth year. The drawing was begun in 2005 in memory of my mother, Nina Isabelle Etheredge Fritz, and in honor and memory of all of those who have been affected by Breast Cancer.
The format for the 2009 turtles is a little different than in past years. As you may know, last year we had 3 separate drawings. One that was created soley by me, and two that were a collaborative effort between 8 different beadwork artists from around the world.
This year there will be only one drawing, and the other pieces will be placed on auction at ebay/MissionFish. 100% of the selling price will be sent to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
I’ve had many offers of help for the 2009 “Pink Ribbon Turtles” Project. I would like to invite all beadwork artists, as well as artists from other mediums, to join us with one of the projects listed below.

2009 "Pink Ribbon Turtle" Artist Information

First...thank you for thinking of joining the “Pink Ribbon Turtles” Project.  Your artwork is priceless...a creation from your heart and spirit.  Be assured that it will be treated with respect.

This is the second year we will have not only the original piece of artwork by me, but work from other artists as well.  Because I have had so many requests to join the project, it has been decided that only the piece I create will be given in a drawing.  The other pieces of artwork will be auctioned at ebay through MissionFish.  100% of all profit from these auctions will be sent to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.

This is the first year I’ve opened this to more than just beadwork artists.  Many people have written to ask if there was a way they could join...but their medium wasn’t beadwork.  I’m excited to see everyone’s interpretation of what the “Pink Ribbon Turtles” Project means to them.  I know you will be an inspiration to us all.

The following are the “REQUIREMENTS” of the project should you decide to join us.  Don’t let the word “requirements” deter you from joining...but do PLEASE read all of them carefully so that you are not “taken by surprise” later on down the road.

- This is entirely a volunteer program.  All expense for your project is your responsibility.

- Please let me know, using the email below, if you are planning on joining the project.  I would like to know no later than July 1, 2009.

- Whatever artist medium you are planning on using, this is the “Pink Ribbon Turtles” Project, so the focus of your artwork MUST BE A TURTLE or TURTLES, and the turtles’ shell MUST be a shade of PINK.

- The size of the finished artwork MUST FIT in either a large or regular PRIORITY FLAT RATE box for shipping.  The regular PFR box is approx. 8”x11”x5”.  The large PFR box is approx. 12”x12”x5”.  The cost for shipping these boxes is subject to change due to the fact that the US Postal Service may change their rates prior to the auction...but as of this writing the charges are as follows: REGULAR PFR Box is $10.35 // LARGE PFR Box is $13.95.  Be sure that they are packaged safely in the box so they won’t be damaged in shipping.

- You MUST have your final product shipped to me no later than September 1, 2009 so that I may have them photographed and ready to post on the ebay auction site.  Mail them to me at:

                                                    Jena Tuntas/Pink Ribbon Turtles

                                                    P. O. Box 320085

                                                    Cocoa Beach, FL  32932-0085

- When you ship your artistic contribution to me please include the following:

The name or title of your art.

                          What the artist(s) medium is.

The name, city and state of the artist(s).

The business card(s) of the artist(s), including contact information and website.

Any small “free gifts” the artist(s) would like included when the box is shipped to the auction winner.

- You are responsible for any framing or “finishing” of any piece you create that requires a frame or stand for display.  All pieces to be auctioned at the “Pink Ribbon Turtles” ebay site must be completed for display or use.

- Each of the “Projects have general directions for your creation of that project.  Simply remember that the focus/theme of the project must be a turtle or turtles and the shell of the turtle(s) must be some shade of pink.

Many thanks to you once again for considering joining the “Pink Ribbon Turtles” Project.

Artistically yours,
